South Africa: Darling & West Coast flowers
Darling is a very welcoming little town and well worth a visit. It is the home of some notable wineries including Groote Post, Darling Cellars and Ormonde. The climate and topography are ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc and such is the quality that many Stellenboch winemakers are sourcing their grapes here. Try the Onyx from Darling Cellars or the inexpensive Alexanderfontain from Ormonde which Platter awards 4.5 stars.
In Springtime, Mid August onwards, the entire West Coast is a carpet of flowers and Darling, with its flower festival makes a good starting point. Pictures as small and compressed as shown here can only give a flavour of the beauty of the landscape at this time of year. Let me send you some pictures of at least A4 or better still go and see for yourself!

Flowers without end

How mother nature decides what should grow where is a complete mystery. But she never blends incompatible hues.
