The Gulf of Morbihan: Port Navalo
This is a lovely fishing village situated on the Rhuys Peninsular. It overlooks the entrance to the Gulf. Lobster, crab and flat fish are landed here and boats ply their trade offering visits to Vannes through the Gulf, to Auray, up the Auray river and out to sea to the islands of Houat, Hoedic and Belle Isle.
Port Navalo beach
Looks out into the Bay of Quiberon. Safe for children with plenty of shells and crabs. The tiny offshore island seen behind the boat is Meabon. It is a bird sanctuary and the anchorage is ideal for a swim and a pre lunch bottle of Muscadet, the local wine followed by lunch and a siesta. Heaven!
