Hardwick, St Mary

Quietly situated small church. The Chancel is 14th century with Decorated windows and reticulated tracery. The Victorians couldn't keep their hands off the churches (probably through necessity) and this little church was almost entirely rebuilt in 1878 from G G Scott's designs. He added a South aisle and porch and re-used some 14th century windows. Note the very grand Perpendicular West window, which includes some interesting glass of c.1888 with two inserted panels from the15th century of the Crucifixion and Christ in Judgement.
