An Indian Beauty

This is a portrait of the lady who used to own the Rambagh Palace Hotel. In her late eighties now she still visits. I will post her name when I establish it. Any information about her would be most welcome.

The lady is Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Sadly she has just died (29th July 2009) aged 90. Her home was the Rambagh Palace before it became a hotel in 1956. Her obituary, where she is pictured entertaining The Queen and Prince Phillip appeared in The Times on 31st July. American Vogue voted her among the ten most beautiful women in the world. The painting is by Pietro Annigoni
